College Application Tips

1. Allow enough time for you to plan.

2. Know what the application requirements are for each school.
-Check for application requirements on each school's website.

3. Look for ways to share the same information among multiple schools.
Once you know what each college on your list requires, you can determine what opportunities you have to "do it once" and "use it twice or more." The Common Application allows students to share some information just once while applying to multiple schools.

4. Take one application at a time.
-Don't stress yourself out! Remember quality not quantity, so take it one at a time in order to create your best application.

5. Beat the submission deadlines by one to two weeks.
-Colleges have very STRICT deadlines and often times will not accept any applications after the deadline, so give yourself some time just in case something unexpected happens such as a computer malfunction or an illness.

Good Morning!

As a TA for Mrs. Dirkes, I spend a lot of time in the Career Center, so I wanted to see if anyone wanted some help researching a certain school they were looking to send an application to. I would be more than happy to help, so please comment below the school you are interested in and I will make a blog post about it.

College Admit Sheet 2013

These are the SAT and ACT score averages for admissions in 2013.

NOTE: Some of these are only the math and critical reading scores combined.

SAT VS. ACT.

The SAT or Act exams are very significant when applying to universities, but which test is best for you? Most colleges accept either exams although some colleges may prefer one over the other, which entirely depends on where you are applying to. The chart above compares both exams and will hopefully help you decide which exam is the best fit for you.

In addition, there is a tab at the top of the website that lists the dates of the exams and registration deadlines, so you can figure out which date to take either exam on.
